Haruna Kawanishi is a photographer from Tokyo, who came to the Netherlands to photograph local dancers.

Maya Ichikawa is a dancer/choreograph from Kyoto and came to the Netherlands to gain experience working with a diverse group of people. Before she came she had done choreography with pillows and wanted to incorporate this into a workshop in which everyone could participate in.

Natsuko Kitamura is an artist (craft, sculpture, paint) from Tokyo. She makes creations about the strange and funny habits of daily life. During Kitamura’s stay with Deshima AIR in Amsterdam, she wanted to make a ‘Omiyage’ for the Netherlands.

Akira Sakai is a cram school teacher and a café musician from Hakodate, with the aspiration of starting his own lunchroom in Hakodate. Sakai was the first participant of Deshima AIR and wanted to research the history and culture behind Dutch customs and cuisine.
