NATUUR & MILIEU MARKT

Today I joined “NATUUR & MILIEU MARKT”.

I had a booth to arrange ikebana flower and

give my information about my flower exhibition in Jun!

Many people showed their interest and it was very encouraging for me!

It was also fun to see around other booths about nature and water!

My favorite skies

I was asked “Where is the favorite place in Canada?”

When I leaver there after my summer holiday when I was 19.

It was hard to make it one
because I visited so many places with my friend’s truck from Vancouver to Edmonton.
I dared to say “sky!”.
I was so surprised when I looked over the huge sky
like 500 times as big as Japanese one just after arriving at the Vancouver airport!
I’ve never forgot of the sky from the back of the truck.
Today, I found I’ve took the same picture everyday
after my stay in Amsterdam for a week.
It is sky.
The sun goes up slowly and goes down the same here.
It’s never big as Canada but the blue when the sun goes down is beautiful.
I can see many kinds of blues before it gets night(Even night, it’s still dark blue).
Bright right sky blue in a day time turns just blue and it goes slowly to cobalt blue.
I love flowers, peoples, the air of the city  here, and the sky too.

Een cadeautje voor de deur

When I opened the door to go out,

I found rabbits at my feet!

Mayu, who is living upstairs, left them.

She said she got many chocolates of Easter in her working place.

Surprise will be the special present!

I could only  bite their bottom!

I started my day with happiness with these sweet rabbits!

Thank you Mayu,

What am I going to leave at her door?

Doe maar gewoon

日本語

Somehow, I don’t feel being a stranger in this city, Amsterdam.

Almost all Dutch people (also non Dutch people) talk to me naturally

in English while I just studied Dutch language a little.

I can hear many accented English in the whole city where

nobody care about my Japanese accent and broken grammar.

That makes me easier to speak English for me.

Today, my friend Martha walked around the city with me.

She went along with me and told me more.

Dutch culture is working out differences between

where they were born or their position or their age.

And she continuted telling that one idea will be at the bottom of

Holland, especially Amsterdam.

“Doe maar gewoon”

It’s a little tough for me to translate Dutch into English,

“Be natural ” or “Go to your natural way” .

Now, the city is  filled of the air that they have thought so for hundreds years in Amsterdam.

If I call the air, it would be “freedom”

In this Evening, I went to her place and she cooked me “Martha dish”.

I loved it.

Hello, Amsterdam I’m Hiroki

Hello, I’m Hiroki Yokoyama, who stays in Amsterdam from 21st of July till 31st of August. I will hold a Green Tea Cheese Fondue Party!!

I love eating.  That’s why I mix food culture and art culture for intercommunication between Holland and Japan.

It’s already passed a week, sorry for that  I didn’t posted to the weblog.

I play the drums in a hard core punk band “Flat Sucks“, and sometimes do performance. I also dance in a community dance company these days, not well-trained though. But I played basket ball, base ball, and Kyudo(a kind of Japanese archery) when I was a student, so about body is interesting ever for me.

Communication is very important for my performance because I feel joy to live as a human being when I communicate  with the people. Of course it’s also precious to communicate with myself and other things in the nature. My policy‘s here. I don’t care so much about the way to  act if the view point is following the policy.

Flower and farmer’s market

Flower-and-farmer's-market_03

Flower-and-farmer's-market_04

Saskia

Flower and farmer’s market

Whenever I stay overseas and live by myself,
flower is on the table.

When feeling a little lonely, breath of living nature gives relief.
It also makes a place brighter and time on the table more joyful.

Considering about the last goodbye, potted flowers might hurt my heart,
therefore I buy cut flowers.
It is very important to choose the right flower shop because you will see
them every week to buy flowers, therefore I want to to buy from wonderful
people.
Flowers coming from a person who takes care wholeheartedly, will last a
long time.

Noriko, a friend mine through yoga and goes to Amsterdam often, introduced
me Saskia.

Saskia is selling vegetables and flowers at the farmer’s market on every
Saturday.
Her flowers are all picked from her own garden, and they are vital.
Buying as buds and seeing them grow, it is fun to see daily changes.
Saskia only deals seasonal flowers

Because her style is to follow the course of nature, she takes it easy and
not looking for anything else.
When I bought hydrangea and paeoniae radix other day, it was interested to
see these flowers bloom during this season in Holland.
I like her warm smile and own taste, so I decided to buy flowers from her.

In the meantime, Noriko proposed me about taking photography for website
of the farmer’s market.

She enlightened me about the farmer’s market.

The farmer’s market at Nieuwmarkt in Amsterdam is where each farmers bring
their organic products to shop and sell.
Their shops are stalls but they have firm payment system such as accepting
credit card or debit card.

The standard of organic products in Holland is very established and there
are supermarkets specialized in this field.
I was unfamiliar about these things so I was thinking about studying as
doing photography work,
but Noriko took me to Saskia’s farm one day.

Vegetables, flowers, and animals are all living lovely.
Picked vegetables together, returned to house for cooking and eating.
I keenly felt about living a life through connecting with a nature, and
having having these being.
Through a dining table, I could sense what she wants to protect and what
she cherishes.

I was leaving my house for photo shooting in the quite early morning.

Nobody was there but flowers on the table sent me off in the dark room.
Flowers from a person whose life and  philosophy are connected.

It’s truly a blessing.
